Films I've Seen
Signs (2002) - 12 - THRILLER/ HORROR
I've just finished watching 'Signs' on YouTube and I can say I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is about a family who begin witnesses paranormal activities near their home. There are a few signs in which the father attempts to ignore but over time they became hard to reject.
I love the eerie atmosphere and abandoned house conventions in this film as it reinforces my expectations of the Thriller genre.
The weapons used are fairly stereotypical of the Thriller genre and create suggestive violence.

Films I've Seen
Disconnect - 15 - MYSTERY & SUSPENSE/THRILLER
I've just finished watching the film 'Disconnect' on SkyGo on my IPad as usual and decided to write a review on it.
I love the atmosphere and almost sinister plot of this film. I really liked the way story line's were shown but linked it some way. The thing I seem to love most about this film is the fact that it relates to real life situations and the title 'Disconnect' is effectively used for all three story line's as the character seem to be part of another world.
The theme in this film is predominately revenge and the story's shown are great examples of how far a person will go to get back what belongs to them. It also scene which include crime and violence and I feel that this evokes sympathy in the audience.

The Evil Within (2013) - 15 - THRILLER/HORROR
Recently I watched 'Mine Games' on SkyGo on my IPad. However, I found out that the name changed not too long ago to 'The Evil Within.'
After visiting the mine a few times they begin to discover spine chilling things such as their own dead bodies. It is an amazing story which portray's the strength the young people can have to determine their own future.
This film has the conventions which I gathered from my target audience : Abandoned house/mine, psychotic characters and an eerie atmosphere.

Assignment 12 : Audience Expectations Of The Thriller (Part 2)
Summary Of My Interview:
I noticed that asking set questions, defines the responses of people's interests in this type of genre. Also, the variety of the answers describe the general conventions of the thriller genre and once the interviewee's have knowledge of this genre, it is easier to explain their expectations. In addition to this, I noticed that the responses had some conventions of other genres such as: the Drama genre or the Action genre.

Survey Summary:
- The advantage of surveys is that it is easier to gather concise information.
- However, some people may not answer the questions properly and therefore, results will be invalid.
- Many people confused themselves with the horror genre, which I've noticed is common to see when it comes to describing the thriller genre.

Assignment 12 : What I've Learnt From The Interviews (Part 1)
From the various interviews I did, I learnt that different age groups, of the female gender have different exceptions of the thriller genre conventions.
The older generation had better knowledge and understanding of the sub-genres in a Thriller film, such as Psychological thrillers or Action thrillers.
Also, the depth of detail in the answers given depended on how much the person was exposed to the world of film or the thriller genre in particular.
