AS & A2 Media Magazine Conference 2013
Attending the Media Magazine Conference with both As & A2 Media classes was an incredible experience for me as I found majority of the speeches inspiring and they gave me an insight into the media world.
Also, I found it interesting seeing the other students interested in working the Media industry attend the Conference, there, more than I had imagined!
There were five different talks on that day, all by: Professor David Buckingham, Robert McKillop, Dr Laura Harvey, Michelle Eastwood and David Brindley.
There were five different talks on that day, all by: Professor David Buckingham, Robert McKillop, Dr Laura Harvey, Michelle Eastwood and David Brindley.
The first talk was from Professor David Buckingham who spoke about society, especially youth's, being empowered by modern marketing. I found this talk really interesting as it made me think past common marketing and think more about the effect it had on people.
The second talk was then by Robert McKillop. He spoke about the challenges of directing and editing and I also I was able to learn about the process before producing a film.
Dr. Laura Harvey spoke about the her research on young people's aspirations and how the culture celebrities influenced them. I found this talk really engage as it was related to me and my future aspirations.
Michelle Eastwood spoke about the amazing war film that was portrayed from the perspective of a woman in the military. She also spoke her personal filming experience and problems like finding appropriate distribution companies.
The last talk was the one I can say I enjoyed the most as David Brindley addressed the emails they had sent 100 schools asking them for permission to film in their school and only 4 replied. I delightfully discovered that he was the director of one of my favourite shows 'One Born Every Minute' and he then discussed his personal experience's in his career and producing and directing 'Educating Yorkshire.' I also got to find out about film fiances, how much a film profited and what cut individuals received.

I liked the movie because :
- It was an portrayal of the futuristic world
- The special effects used were very effective
- The unexpected story line kept me on the edge of my seat
- I found the costumes and make up designs amazing!
One thing that I didn't enjoy however was the cliff hanging ending. However, it made me even more excited to see the next part of the film. All in all, it was a great day.
