To improve this work I need to:

AS C/W "Regret" Questions & Answers

1. What genre is this? Why?
A lot of action was taken place within the 'Regret' opening sequence, the slow motion of the action enlongated the film opening.

Drama was also presented when the character gets rid of a mysterical object that the audience do not know of. Here audiences imagination explores the possibilities of what may of happened.

 2. What is the main plot?
As the title insinuates, the main plot of the opening sequence is Regret. We are able to see her remorse and it is evident when she is on the swing, it is clear to see she is reflecting on what she has done.

 3. What enigma (mystery/puzzle/riddle) is created?
The black and white flashbacks hints to the audience of a horrific scene in which she later reflects about on the swing and how she is going to get rid of the evidence.

4. Using mark scheme, WWW?
The flashbacks- the use of black and white and the effect of slow motion makes it clear to the audience that it is a reflection of the scenario.

 5. Using mark scheme, EBI (how could it be improved?)
Some parts of the slow motion scenes were a little bit to slow and lost interest. There was no clear resolution of how the character came to the idea of getting rid of the evidence and I think this could of been shown.

The ending could of been more intriguing by perhaps using dark lighting and more sinical and creating more of a mysterical atmosphere.

Review Of 'The Closet'

The opening sequence of 'The Closet' begins with sounds such as: rattling of thunder and rain, which already creates a sense that something sinister is about to occur. As Kaya enters the house, the angle of the camera is already in, so they captured a variety of shots. The use of music creates tension throughout.

As Kaya is being somewhat possessed, the camera zooms into her, as I also notice that the effect used become darker and then suddenly changes back.. The voices built a large amount of fear in me and left me wanting to find out what will happen next.

The audience are included as they are able to see the evil sight in the mirror , which Kaya is not. I personally think this technique is effective because us the audience are able to reflect and engage with the film which I don't feel happens the opening sequence ' Runaway.'

At the end, Kaya and the audience become one in the closet, they are able to see the same beastly appearance, however the audience are left imaging what happens next, so this technique is very effective.

I think they could have however improved on the aspect of the room and the atmosphere being "haunted"  by perhaps making the room darker and allowing more paranormal activities to occur.

Review Of 'Runaway'

The shot of Nicole is very effective as the next shot zooms in to her to see her head in her palms. I am immediately able to understand her emotion.

A plethora of angles are used as she is shown isolated on the inside of a bus. I find the close ups and the angle of Nicole's point of view to be very unique.

The music creates a story and depicts Nicole being depressed and lonely.

However, I feel that there could have been a wide range of music used instead of the same music being played in different scenarios.

I think the use of zooming and far angles are very effective. The fading transitions of her positions on the grass illustrate time passing, which they have used very well.

The camera shows her face as she is remembering something before showing a past event. I think this is shown clearly.

Overall, their opening sequence has a clear story and is easy to understand. I particularly like the ending as it leaves the audience with a sense of tension when the camera shows a close up of the text she receives after she is gone.
